Kuchinda College, established in the year 1964 is situated at the head- quarters of Kuchinda Sub- Division in the district of Sambalpur. The impressive entrance gate and the wide and straight drive way draw the attention of the passersby.

Kuchinda College fulfils the long cherished dream and aspiration of the local people for higher education. By virtue of being a nodal College it also caters to the needs of the surrounding localities spreading from such districts as Deogarh and Jharsuguda to far flung Bonai and Panposh in the district of Sundargarh. The College imparts teaching in Arts, Science and Commerce both at Higher Secondary and Under Graduate level. The Higher Secondary wing maintains its distinct identity having separate class rooms, laboratories and other infrastructural setup.

Although Kuchinda has been identified as an economically backward area agriculture being the primary occupation of its people, the percentage of literacy in the Sub- Division has gone up from 23% in 1971 to 45% in 1991. In this context Kuchinda College, Kuchinda has played an important role over the years and currently it is the first choice among parents and guardians for Higher Education.

Kuchinda College has achieved considerable academic excellence within the frame work of an affiliated institution. It has been accredited by the NAAC twice, first in 2005 and then in 2016. Over the years pass-out students from this college have occupied important positions in various fields and have brought glory to the Alma Mater.

Every year the Students’ Union and other Societies are formed through election. Apart from Annual Day celebration, cultural meetings science Exhibition, Seminar, symposia are organized throughout the academic year. During the Covid-19 restrictions move than 20 state level, National and International Webinars have been organized by different departments.

In the year 1989 Kuchinda College, Kuchinda celebrated Silver Jubilee and Golden Jubilee in the year 2015 with much enthusiasm.

Kuchinda College, Kuchinda possesses a sound infrastructure in terms of adequate class room student common room, laboratories and computer labs. The College library which is being degitised possesses a good collection of nearly 30.000 books and select national and international journals for science, humanities and commerce streams.

Kuchinda College, Kuchind has four hostels. The two hostels for girl- students accommodate more than six hundred boarders. The two gents’ hostels have nearly three hundred seats. There are also college canteen, guest house, Principal’s and hostel superintendents’ quarters inside the college campus with independent water supply. Presently a new Administrative Building has come up while more class rooms and reading rooms for library users are under construction. The college possesses a smart hall for seminar and conference. The auditorium is soon going to function after necessary interior furnishing.

The Sambalpur University and the C.H.S.E Odisha have recognized the College as a lead College of the State. Currently study centers of IGNOU and OSOU and private cell for PG under Sambalpur University are operating in Kuchinda College.
